UN-RAVEL
Un-ravel developed through a continuous dialogue with Maurice Ravel's second movement from Gaspard De La Nuit, 'Le Gibet'. What began as a research into possible responses to the musical score, evolved into a study of relationships between sound, movement and light. The reaction to the sound, dynamics, form and structure of the piece led to a reinterpretation of all its components and to the production of a new three dimensional space encompassing elements of the musical stimulus but in a remolded form. Aim of the work was to research and possibly come to an interesting, informed and immersive manner in which to use music in relation to movement forming a collaborative choreomusical relationship. Unraveling the constituent elements of the musical score, reinterpreting them through sound, movement and the architecture of the performance space.
